Becoming a brilliant singer does not mean singing only within your vocal range but including over reaching for the right note as you hit higher without hurting yourself. This may sound a difficult task but seems not impossible to do..This could be done with learning to sing high and low notes. The aim in doing this is to gradually increase your vocal register capability or increasing your vocal range. It does not work overnight but through constant practice until you perfect it.
Determine your vocal range first and how high or low it can encompass your true vocal range without straining your voice. After that, warm up by doing some scales hitting higher note as far as you can withstand it while preserving a good quality note in higher range. This is done best by using a piano or using a virtual piano downloaded in your computer. Use the same as you hit the lowest note were you remain comfortable. To sing the higher and the lower notes is not actually difficult to do but it requires focus and concentration and most importantly, you need to apply those you have learned including the foundations of good singing, breathing, posture and the different styles you can apply. This is a challenging experience in coming out from what truly you can do and what you can do best to improve your singing skill.
There are some terms used loosely to describe where a vibration should be felt when you hit high or low notes. The vibrations when you hit a higher note must be felt from your mouth, teeth and sinuses. This is the head voice describing a term use when you hit a higher note. On the opposite, the vibration that is produce when you sing lower notes should begin and can be felt from your chest and the lower throat, this is term the chest voice. But you can never perfect this practice if you do not master first your present vocal range. Reaching beyond the threshold of your range can become easy when you are very familiar with your vocal register. Remember it is very dangerous to dive straight beyond your current range because it can permanently damage your vocal cords or it may leave an impression from others that you are not doing the right thing in learning how to hit high and low notes. Try first to practice the sounds such as UH, AH. EE and so forth to master in ways your vocal cords and your mouth will affect the sounds.
As you go along the way, try to increase or move on to the next note synchronizing with the piano to play the next note. This should be done only when you already master the note last learned. Doing this over the next few weeks can increase your range at high and low ends. You will be able to appreciate then how well you have learned to change notes from low to high range without jeopardizing your vocal range and at the same time not hurting yourself from doing it.
