Has someone told you that you have a voice like a cow, and that people are telling you that you have a really bad voice, and you wish that you could sing. Well the truth is you really can learn to sing. Anyone can learn to sing given the right tools and technique.
Some famous singers like Liam Clancy if you have observed that he really has a nice voice and that he knows how to control his voice. You too can have the power to control over your voice and sing well. In this article i am going to share to you some helpful tips on how to improve your voice and learn to sing better.
•Breath through your diaphragm - Take a look a new born baby, you can see that he or she breaths through his diaphragm. As we grow old we forget how Mother Nature have taught us to breath, we end up breathing through our chest. Most people sing by inhaling and filling their diaphragm and exhaling slowly, they get a fuller and rounder tones as opposed to the harsh broken tones that comes from the throat. This is not a good practice in singing.
Take a look at some of our famous singers nowadays, you will notice that they have control over their breath, and that is the most important aspect that any singers should learn, learning how to control your breathing. It confuses me how many professional singers get away with very poor breathing technique, and how many amateur singers have no concept on how to breath properly. The proper way to breath (most especially in singing) is through your diaphragm. In case you don’t know, your diaphragm is located just below your rib cage.
•Another tip is something that has to do with high notes – As what i have observed most people when they are singing try to hit high C exactly, and they think that this is the right thing to do. Well i’m telling you that it is wrong. The right thing to do is aim slightly above high C and not exactly high C. If you will do this you can observe that aiming a little bit higher you will in effect hit C right on the spot. It seems more of a psychological trick but for me it works, try it!
•Concentrate on your vocal chords – For my last tip, try to visualize your vocal chords like the strings of a piano. If you will take a look inside a piano, you can see that the lower notes are longer and the strings are thicker, and the opposite are shorter and the strings are thinner. This is the same as with the notes. When you sing you have to learn how to shorten your vocal chords when you are trying to reach higher notes, otherwise you will not sound good.
By following those tips i gave you, i guarantee you that you will learn to sing fast.
